  The current vacancy is at Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center (https://sf.gov/departments/department-public-health/laguna-honda-hospital-and-rehabilitation-center) . The eligible list resulting from this recruitment may be utilized to fill future and current vacancies in this class at other locations within the DPH for the duration of the eligible list.

  Under general supervision, the 2618 Food Service Supervisor directs the operations and services of dining rooms in a large institution.

  MAJOR, IMPORTANT, AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  Is responsible for sanitation, safety and maintenance of equipment

  Supervises Senior Food Service Workers and Food Service Workers daily assignments in tray-line, delivery, and ware washing for residents

  Assists in the budget management of labor, material and supplies of the department and uses prudent judgement in the delineation of the allocated resources

  Supervises proper maintenance of sanitation, procurement, safety standards, proper equipment operation, cleaning and correct storage and use of food and supplies as regulated by the Department, local, state and federal regulatory agencies

  Communicates effectively with subordinates, other supervisors, other hospital personnel, and other managers including dietitians, chefs, and food service managers

  Documents employee scheduling, job descriptions, performance evaluations, payroll reporting, storeroom requisitioning, sub-quality products or shortages, quality control checks, temperature logs for food products and food equipment, and employee injury and illness reporting

  Monitors meal service operations, to include correct hair covering, ID Hospital Badges and proper use of gloves

  Ensures correct portions control

  Assists subordinates in all meals

  Manages meal service shifts both with a Lead worker and alone.

  Ensures tray-line resident meal tray tickets are protected HIPPA information and disposed of in a confidential bin

  The 2618 Food Service Supervisor may perform other duties as assigned/required.

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  Education: Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED or High School Proficiency Examination); AND

  Experience: Two (2) years of experience in the operation of a large, high-volume food service organization. Experience includes tray line operations, quality control, cafeteria/catering services, inventory management, or equipment monitoring in an institutional setting such as a hospital, correctional facility, cafeteria, long-term care facility, or other large high-volume food service organization.

  One-year fulltime employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine fulltime employment.

  Minimum Qualification Supplemental Questionnaire (MQSQ):

This MQSQ is designed to obtain specific information regarding an applicant's experience in relation to the Minimum Qualifications (MQ) for this position. The MQSQ will be used to evaluate if the applicant possesses the required minimum qualifications.

  Written Examination (Weight: 100%):

  Candidates that meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in a written multiple-choice exam that is designed to measure the knowledge, skills, and abilities in job related areas which may include but not be limited to:

  Candidates must achieve a passing score on the exam in order to continue in the selection process and will be placed on the confidential eligible list in rank order according to their final score.

  Additional selection processes may be conducted by the hiring department prior to making final hiring decisions.

  Certification

  The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this examination will be the Rule of Ten Scores.

  The duration of the eligible list resulting from this examination process will be 12 months and may be extended with the approval of the Human Resources Director.
