Position Overview
The role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of general accounting functions. The position focuses on ensuring the overall precision of financial books and records by promptly closing books and reconciling balances. Monthly and annual financial statements are prepared as part of this responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage operational accounting functions, ensuring timely book closings and balance reconciliations.
• Handle contract management, including reconciliations.
• Draft monthly financial statements, compiling relevant information and providing result summaries.
• Select, supervise, train, develop, and evaluate assigned staff.
• Prepare the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and the financial section of the Annual Report, incorporating information review and feedback solicitation.
• Review work processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness in all supervised areas.
• Coordinate the preparation of "prepared by client" schedules and act as the primary contact for external auditors.
• Interpret and apply accounting standards set by FASB and GASB, following GAAP.
• Research and stay informed about new accounting pronouncements and rules affecting financial statements.
• Conduct various accounting analyses, presenting results to Executive Management and the Board.
• Ensure proper application of accounting practices, including maintaining and updating the general ledger's account code structure.
• Perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA certification or audit background preferred.
• Experience in financial controlling functions, with a preference for construction, project, or contract experience.
• Six years of relevant controller experience.
• Experience in managing and leading teams of 4+.
• Proficient in financial, processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
