Basic Job Functions:
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore,candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, anduphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeepingstandards at all times.Provide leadership in plant safety and operations on a day-to-day basisDevelop and maintain positive working relationships with customersEstablish production work schedulesProvide leadership in people development activities such as hiring,training, developing and coaching staffServe as a role model; support and ensure compliance with all safety andenvironmental policies and practicesSupport manager in long-range planning and budgetingWork closely with commercial team to keep them informed when nonferrouscommodities need to be soldConduct monthly inventoryHands on leadership approach in working with teammates
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or GED requiredBachelor's degree in business, management, engineering or related fieldor a minimum of 3 years management experience in heavy industrial ormanufacturing environmentSafety Oriented
Preferences:
Experience in, operations or manufacturing with heavy equipment;experience in scrap processingKnowledge of inventory management, shipping and receiving material usinglean manufacturing principles is a plusProven ability to communicate with all levels of customers and internalcontactsGood verbal and written communication skillsSkilled and experienced with personal computers, software, spreadsheetsand databases (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)Ability to plan, manage and prioritize work; adapt to a changingenvironment; strong organized approach to workDemonstrated skill in initiating and managing projects; building and leadinga project team
