Position Summary/Description:
The Director of Research Funding and Strategy will serve in an executive level leadership capacity and with a primary function to sustain and enhance the Center’s comprehensive research portfolio, which currently totals 32 million dollars. As an established subject matter expert in relevant areas of current research priorities and emerging research initiatives, the position will identify opportunities to expand current projects as well as additional opportunities for collaboration within the school, across campus and with peer institutions. To be successful, the position will identify funding opportunities, serve as the primary point of contact for initial discussions, support the development of strategic roadmaps for center funding, oversee the administrative aspects of research projects at the CSCC , develop resource planning model for staff and faculty as well as to develop and administer training and support junior faculty in growing their grantsmanship. To support ongoing collaborations at UNC CH and across the UNC System, the position must also serve as a liaison across the Schools of Public Health, Medicine, Pharmacy, and other institutions in the University of North Carolina system. This would include interfacing with investigators at UNC and other academic organizations, evaluate relationships and developing partnerships with various parties in the UNC environment, and create and present proposals for the CSCC and UNC to sponsors. The Center is committed to expanding their efforts in this area and it is expected that the position will eventually expand the office to include 2-3 additional positions.
Education and Experience:
Experience working as a director or associate director in a Coordinating Center environment with a large portfolio.
