  About this Role

  ENERGY SERVICES WEST

  The Estimator works with the Director and Project Management to lead the development of technical scope of work and independently develop cost estimates, work schedules and resource requirements for renewable energy, electrical utility and heavy-civil construction projects.

  Additionally, they p rovide overall administrative, technical, financial, and resource management of the project from initial bid preparation through completion.

  Responsible for delivering concurrent projects safely, in accordance with quality standards, on time, and within budget.

  Ability to provide guidance and oversee multiple projects and/or provide direction to assistant project managers.

  What You'll Do

  Responsible for the overall financials and contract management of multiple concurrent projects as well as work directly with construction management team to ensure successful delivery of the project.

  Lead the Request For Proposal (RFP) preparation and evaluation of owner provided project specifications, and compilation of final pricing schedules.

  Lead the development of pricing schedules for complex construction projects, including but not limited to, establishing weighted criteria for proposal evaluations.

  Lead estimate and proposal review meetings with peers and executive staff that are accompanied with materials to justify the total cost and logic behind the estimate.

  Lead the technical written proposal effort for all estimates. This includes but is not limited to schedules, crew make-up, equipment list, execution plan,, material management and quality management.

  Provide professional judgment of costs to support competitive bids and negotiated contracts.

  Works closely with the Project Management Organization (PMO) to establish processes, ensure consistency, and adherence to organizational best practices.

  Maintain a professional appearance with the ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines and to provide positive leadership to motivate personnel.

  Define problems, collect information, and establish facts to provide an appropriate resolution.

  Lead and execute pre-construction efforts in bid preparation, contract and exhibit review, and execution planning.

  Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

  Setup, organize, update, and maintain electronic and printed files of project documents utilizing various systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and SharePoint; Primavera P6; JD Edwards; B2W; and others.

  Schedule and manage subcontractors, vendors, and material suppliers.

  Monitor and support construction through effective communication to ensure the project is built on schedule and within budget.

  Ability to interpret and act on terms and conditions within contracts in consultation with company’s legal team to protect company’s interest while maintaining good relationships with the customer.

  Lead monthly job review calls with Executive Management and provide a detailed overview about past, current and future job performance.

  Mentor and educate Assistant Project Managers on forecasting, job costing and general financial acumen.

  Review cost reports and evaluate methods to reduce costs while maintaining productivity.

  Manage budget projection for labor, material, equipment, and subcontractors procured on the project.

  Responsible for cost forecasting, monthly cost to complete development, and accuracy of reporting.

  Responsible for the invoicing or payment application process as well as monitoring the quality of weekly labor and equipment hours, material, and subcontractor reporting.

  Responsible for productivity of field work, efficient use of materials/equipment, and contractual performance of the project.

  Lead daily, weekly, and monthly meetings, as required, including the formulation of the agenda and minutes. Generate daily, weekly, or monthly meeting documents as required.

  Develop, submit, track, and maintain all project submittals and requests for information.

  Monitor and manage project scope and develop, negotiate, submit, track, and maintain client and/or subcontractor change orders when necessary.

  Develop and maintain project schedules in MS Project, Primavera P6 or other.

  What You'll Bring

  Four-year construction science, project management, construction management, construction engineering, engineering, or similar related degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience

  Strong knowledge of design, estimating, construction, finance, and project management.

  Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, scaling, legends, etc.

  Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical specifications, financial reports, and legal contract documents.

  Minimum of seven years of project or construction management or project controls experience in similar construction market.

  Thorough knowledge of all aspects of project management, project controls, contract management, budgeting, estimating, schedules, negotiations, construction management (technology, equipment, methods), and safety required.

  Proficient in B2W, HCSS Heavy Bid, Stack, or similar estimating software.

  Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, SharePoint).

  Proficient with Primavera P6, JD Edwards, QuickBase, and B2W technology platforms

  Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize team performance.

  Thorough understanding of industry practices, processes, standards, and activities.

  Ability to apply and successfully execute accounting revenue recognition concepts

  Effective communication (oral, written, presentation, listening) and ability to lead meetings.

  Thorough knowledge of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, electric utility construction (Overhead, Underground, Transmission, Substation and Distribution) and/or heavy civil estimating experience.

  Effective motivational and supervisory skills

  Ability to organize and prioritize multiple concurrent tasks.

  Ability to travel and work on project locations, as required.

  Percent of Time: Up to 25%

  Physical Requirements

  Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of a jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.

  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

  May be placed on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.

  Compensation Range

  The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $11,000.00/Yr. - USD $170,000.00/Yr. depending on experience and qualifications.
