The Staff Systems Engineer: AdvanceCommercial Technology will be involved in the early evaluation anddevelopment of new technologies that support our diverse product line.The Staff Systems Engineer will design, develop and validate electronic,electro-mechanical and mechanical systems and components. This personwill translate new features and technology into system levelrequirements and contribute to the development of our future productstrategies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop, design andevaluate new technologies and identify new applications for existingtechnologies. Translate new features and technology into system levelrequirements to support the early evaluation, development, design andvalidation processes. Create advance electrical, electro-mechanical andmechanical system and component specifications and test procedures.Design and develop circuit board level hardware and supervise PCBlayout. Create new algorithms, embedded software, softwarespecifications and testing specifications. Create PC based testingtools. Maintain knowledge of the current technical state and newinnovations relative to power electronics. Create and maintaintechnology roadmaps. Contribute to the development of our future productroadmaps and strategies Conduct Risk Assessments, FMEA/DFMEA and DesignReviews. Collaborate with internal manufacturing partners, contractmanufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize complex andadvanced designs for manufacturability. Support product developmentplans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs). Act as a resourceto mentor and teach less experienced engineers. Other duties asassigned. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in SystemsEngineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline. 10 + years ofrelevant work experience. Experience with Matlab Simulink. Experiencewith designing analog/digital circuitry. Ability to solve complexengineering problems. Strong decision-making skills. MS Excel, MS Word.Excellent oral and written communication. Preferred Qualifications:Master\'s degree in Systems Engineering, Electronics, or relateddiscipline. Experience with power generation products. Experience indesign of industrial/automotive electronic control systems andassemblies. Familiarity with simulation software such as P-Spice andMentor Graphics Hyperlynx. Communication protocol/ hardware interfaceknowledge, such as RS232, RS485, CAN, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C, Flash,EEPROM, ADC/DAC and WiFi/Bluetooth. Design to meet agency compliancesuch as UL, CSA, NEC, CE, FCC, NFPA and EPA. Experience with Agilesoftware development practices and tools.
