ELECTION ASSISTANT-TEMP Position Purpose/Summary Responsible for theupdating of election information on the City\'s website. Maintains,tests and prepares voting equipment before and after elections. Conductscomplex clerical and data processing work with a high level of publiccontact. Work is performed under the supervision of the ElectionCommissioner. No supervision is exercised over other employees.Essential Functions Maintains and updates the Election Office\'s pageson the City\'s public website. Maintains, tests, and prepares the votingequipment as needed before and after elections. Conducts logic andaccuracy testing of all voting machines prior to each election. Orders,receives, and organizes all office supplies and supplies for all 64polling locations. Processes voter\'s lists and residency lists orextracts and creates discs as needed. Updates state based computer withcensus data, voter registrations and information as well as RMV andother state data. Inputs paper voter registration received by mail andover the counter. Files registrations as necessary. Mails outacknowledged notices, processes and distributes incoming mailaccordingly. Assists citizens at the counter and instructs them on theproper procedures relating to voter registration. Answers phone callsand fills-out residency certificates. Receives, processes and certifiespetitions and nomination papers. Performs related work as required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Considerable knowledge of election andrelated laws. Working knowledge of modern office procedures andequipment. Ability to plan, install, and supervise detailed clericalsystems. Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, orally and inwriting. Ability to establish and maintain effective workingrelationships with board members, public officials, and the generalpublic. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum of one year of technical office experience. Bilingual stronglypreferred.
