Description:
Receives instructions and work assignment from Foreman.
Locates and moves adjacent material to balancing area, returns finished product to filing area.
Mounts impeller on arbor, sets up impeller on arbor or rotor assembly on ways of balancing machine. Grinds, fits feather keys to impeller.
Starts machine, operates controls and observes gauges and meters to determine location of off-balance. Records results. Uses drill or portable grinder to remove excess metal to balance unit to required tolerance.
Visually inspects units for surface or other defects, notifies Foreman of any unusual or defective units.
Cleans impellers and equipment.
Keeps immediate work area clean and orderly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Plan complex work detail to operate dynamic balancing machine to balance various sizes of pump rotor units and impellers on arbors to meet specifications.
Perform semi-routine job involving the set-up and operation of balancing equipment where judgment is required.
Positions wheel in balancing machine, starts machine, operates controls and observes gauges, makes adjustments where close tolerances are required.
Close mental or visual application required when observing gauges, determining required weight and attach to impeller, to true-up wheel to meet requirements.
Light physical exertion, operates electric hoist and manually uses a variety of small hand tools.
