Position Summary:Join UAF's growing Advancement Team! As part of the central UAF Development team, this on-campus position will support UAF Donor Relations and engagement efforts by providing donor engagement, stewardship, office management, and data support. This position is vital in supporting the development team to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including alumni, benefactors, students, faculty, staff, and the broader community in advancing the university’s overall mission of research, teaching, and public service. The Donor Engagement Officer must be extremely detail-oriented, able to handle confidential material discretely, and responsibly and interact professionally with a wide spectrum of individuals. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to be flexible, take initiative, and prioritize responsibilities.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Associate Director of Donor Relations, but this position requires strong independence in performing donor relations activities, extracting data/information from institutional databases, and creating reports. Must demonstrate strong customer service and donor relations skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent organization and critical thinking skills, and networking and research skills.
Ability and willingness to work occasional nights and weekends as needed. Proven ability to exercise judgment, take initiative, and make effective decisions in a timely fashion while retaining flexibility in order to incorporate changes in plans and shifting priorities. It is the policy of the University of Alaska Fairbanks that all employees are required to attend training to meet the requirements of the position they hold and to complete the required training within a specified period of time to remain employed at UAF.
Knowledge/skills in the following areas are preferred:business, marketing, public relations, excellent interpersonal skills, a track record of teamwork, creativity, excellent communication skills and organizational skills. Experience using Raiser’s Edge database or similar. Knowledge of best practices in project management, donor relations/communications technology preferred.
Must be accurate, have strong attention to detail, and operate in a confidential manner. Ability to represent the University with the highest degree of professionalism and positive public relations to all benefactors and friends at University sponsored events. Must be proficient with using computers and Microsoft programs (Excel, Word), preferred experience with databases, data entry, videos, and awareness of industry standards for fundraising and donor relations. Advanced ability to collect, analyze and interpret data. Ability to write complex reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, business, public administration or relevant field and two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
