A Brief OverviewThe Director is responsible for directing, managing and providing leadership for the Career Catalyst Coalition. This initiative is an innovative healthcare education model to provide successful career opportunities for high school students in Philadelphia and address healthcare talent shortages. The Director will ensure the Career Catalyst Coalition meets all key milestones, including reporting of performance metrics. This role reports to the Assistant Vice President Community Impact in the Office of Community Impact.
Program Leadership*Provide strategic and tactical direction, as well as program management leadership, for Career Catalyst Coalition, including coordination and collaboration across CHOP's clinical, operational, research, and administrative functions*Accountable for all program metrics and milestones*Oversee civic partnerships that support the advancement of the Career Catalyst Coalition*Develop and advance strategies that maximize the Hospital's investments in the Career Catalyst Coalition*Identify and leverage enterprise resources to advance data-driven strategies in the community that improve education, career, and health outcomes for youth*Lead governance bodies to ensure appropriate internal and external stakeholder involvement*Support CHOP's broader anchor institution strategy for schools through strategic planning and collaborations with existing CHOP initiatives*Anticipate potential delays to projects and take appropriate mitigation steps*Manage partner relationships including contract creation and review, payments, performance, and issue resolution*Partner with departmental leaders in Human Resources, PolicyLab, CHOPPA, Care Network, Foundation, IS, Nursing, Supply Chain, the Research Institute and more to help promote and achieve strategic objectives and goals
Communication and Promotion*Develop successful communication strategy to demonstrate and advance recognition of Career Catalyst Coalition's impact in partnership with the Marketing and Public Relations and Internal Communications departments*Partner with CHOP Foundation and Government Affairs & Advocacy to secure philanthropic and governmental funding to support the financial sustainability of Career Catalyst Coalition*Represent the Hospital in community settings and at conferences through speaking engagements and other appearances*Build a national platform for Career Catalyst Coalition that facilitates thought leadership and benchmarking opportunities*Work collaboratively with health services researchers to support community engaged scholarship through the advancement of publications and national meeting presentations
Administrative and Financial Responsibility*Recruit, manage, coach, and develop staff*Serve on, and collaborate with, the Office of Community Impact leadership team to identify new opportu ities to improve the conditions in which children live throughout the CHOP Care Network and impact the systems that shape these conditions*Identify and pursue new sources of revenue, including philanthropic and government funding, to advance strategic initiatives*Manage grants and support donor stewardship efforts*Oversee preparation of budget information for review*Forecast and approve expenditures
Relationship and Knowledge Building*Inform and solicit feedback from community about Career Catalyst Coalition*Develop and maintain relationships with key CHOP stakeholders, peers, government officials, and community-based organizations*Identify and cultivate new potential collaborations to enhance Career Catalyst Coalition's impact*Benchmark opportunities that inform the use of best practices in related work
Education QualificationsMaster's Degree in health care, community relations, public affairs, social work, public health, communications or a similar field of study. Required
Experience QualificationsAt least five (5) years in healthcare, public health, or community health RequiredAt least five (5) years of senior leadership and team management experience in health care, community relations, public affairs, social work, public health, communications or related fields. Preferred
Skills and AbilitiesExperience directly managing full-time employees (hire/fire authority)Demonstrated track record of building high-performance teamsStrong project management skillsAbility to prioritize and resolve critical issues efficiently and effectivelyAbility to work with all levels of an organizationExcellent communication (oral and writing) skillsExperience with fiscal managementBasic understanding of quality improvement methods
