Job Description
Manages nursing personnel and daily operational related activities. Leads team for assigned units with responsibility for all operational functions of the team. Works in partnership with the Medical Director and Physician Liaison of the inpatient unit to provide administrative and medical staff support to the operations of the inpatient unit. Responsible for developing and initiating improvements in the organization and delivery of high quality, cost effective patient care.
Designs, assesses and implements nursing best practices and focuses on empirical outcomes.
Creates and maintains standards, operational activities and performance measurement tools that meet operational and market needs in operational efficiency, quality, access and patient satisfaction.
Maintains appropriate staffing levels and mix.
Ensures the patient safety improvement and management program will be given high priority and will support the program.
Ensures all incidents, serious events, and sentinel events are reported to Performance Improvement and addressed in a timely manner.
Facilitates active engagement and communication with department staff via formal meetings and informal interactions.
Assesses staff and facilitates skill development for all personnel as needed.
Directs all employee relation activities.
Collaborates with Nursing Professional Development Specialist to develop employee orientation, continuing education and competencies to sustain a high quality workforce.
Integrates the Professional Practice model with the mission, vision, philosophy and values of the organization.
Facilitates a timely problem resolution process for patient and customer related issues.
Establishes and adjusts hour per patient day for unit based on national benchmarks and acuity.
Develops, implements, and achieves budgets which attain unit, division, and system goals.
Implements activities and tools that consistently educate and focus staff on key performance indicators.
Monitors all revenue and expense impacting activities by reviewing reports provided by finance, and care management.
Develops and implements operational contingency plans proactively and when indicators change.

Operating Room or procedural experience preferred;
Bachelor's Degree - Nursing required, Master's preferred.
