The University of Chicago\'s Department of Medicine, Section ofCardiology, is searching for a full-time Associate Professor orProfessor to serve as the Director of the Advanced Heart Failure andCardiac Transplant Program. The appointee will join an established groupof nationally known physicians and surgeons and oversee the fullspectrum of treatment modalities for advanced heart failure, includingmulti-organ transplantation and DT VADS. In collaboration with a teamwith colleagues from Cardiac Surgery and the Transplant Center, theappointee will also be responsible for expanding a preeminent programfor academic discovery and clinical care.
The program is currently ACGME-accredited to train a minimum of oneACGME-accredited advanced HF fellow (4th year cardiology) each year.Clinical responsibilities include the care of patients with advancedheart failure including VADs and post cardiac transplantation. Protectedtime is available for candidates with research experience or potential.Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees andstudents. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous packageof fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have amedical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medicallicensure in the State of Illinois, and 3) be BC/BE in Cardiology and/oran international equivalent.
We especially welcome applicants with leadership experience in managinga complex clinical operation. Additionally, we welcome applicants withexperience with the management of PAH, and physician-scientists withtranslational or outcomes research expertise in heart failure.
