  JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB ID: 19663 INTRODUCTION: The Department ofFacilities Planning and Management at the University ofWisconsin-Whitewater seeks multiple Custodians (FP019) for first-shiftpositions. JOB DUTIES: This position is responsible for housekeepingduties in assigned areas of UW-Whitewater buildings and maintainingthese areas in a safe and sanitary condition. This position will reportto the Custodial Services Supervisor and works under the guidance of aCustodian Lead. This position normally works either 4:00am-12:00pm or5:00am-1:00pm. Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.This position is designated at Level 1 for risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens. All established safety rules and regulations must befollowed and personal protective equipment must be worn when performingjob duties requiring their use. The incumbent will be an activeparticipant in following applicable safety rules and regulationsincluding necessary training and drills. Based upon operational need foradditional custodial coverage at University events, occasional overtimemay be required and changes to your schedule may occur, this may includeevenings and weekends. RESPONSIBILITIES: 75% A. Routine DailyMaintenance of Academic Buildings A1. Clean restrooms, shower, andlocker rooms. A2. Clean classrooms, whiteboards and trays, erasers, etc.A3. Clean and dust office areas. A4. Empty wastebaskets and remove trashfrom buildings. A5. Replenish supplies as necessary. A6. Vacuum andspot-clean carpets. A7. Sweep and/or dust mop floors. A8. Wet mop ormachine scrub floors. A9. Clean hallways, stairwells, and drinkingfountains. A10. Clean and sweep entryways and walk off mats; empty ashurns. A11. Wash walls, ceilings, inside windows, and glass buildingentrances. A12. Replace bulbs, clean light fixtures, and replacediffusers. A13. Open and secure buildings/rooms as assigned. 15% B.Performance of Related Duties B1. Clean and maintain equipment andstorage areas. B2. Report needed maintenance or repairs to supervisorvia work request. B3. Move furniture, equipment, supplies, etc. asrequired. B4. Inspect exterior building entrances for trash and disposeof appropriately. B5. Provide snow removal from building entrances andsurrounding sidewalks. B6. Strip and refinish floor surfaces as needed.B7. Shampoo all carpeted areas and clean entry mats. B8. DriveUniversity vehicles if authorized. B9. Other duties as assigned. 10% C.Team Participation C1. Function as member of team in special projects(i.e. relamping, tarping floors, seasonal cleaning). C2. Function as ateam member in problem solving for custodial and other areas. C3. Assistother department/employees as required. C4. Perform set-ups and teardowns involving movement of equipment and workshops, sports events, etc.C5. Clean areas between events.
