ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitoring, acknowledging and preliminary identification of facility device alerts. (e.g.UPS, CRAC units, sensor probes, power rails, etc.)
Ascertain the severity of the alert and possible cause of the alert, identify external factors that may be affecting the device/s,
Determine whether the alert is a problem that needs to be escalated and require on-site intervention.
Reduce the number of after-hours alerts to in-region on-call staff (note that with a limited number of these engineering staff it is important to ensure that they are available to deal with important and critical problems that occur that require their intervention without being unnecessarily woken out of hours to deal with minor or phantom problems)
Logging of all critical equipment events in the Engineering Incident Register
Conduct reading of data center and site devices for capacity reporting.
Weekly offline devices monitoring and device connectivity checks during scheduled IT works and building power down activities.
Engineering Change Management – Creating, following-up and closing of associated CRQs for all engineering works. PPM reporting and notification of scheduled engineering works.
Sustainability Reporting – Managing of Carbonview data for audit and regulation purposes. Reporting on Energy Usage data across all regions.
Service Insight Global Admin support – User Account management as required. Creating/Updating and adding details to an asset in SI7. Creating and updating PM schedules.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Engineering Degree w/ background on critical facilities/data center equipment/space. Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience and/or training.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
Mechanical/Electrical Engineer License will be and advantage
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor. Ability to effectively present information to an internal department and/or large groups of employees.
FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE
Requires basic knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires basic analytical skills.
OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook. Knowledge in various video conferencing tools/apps and SNMP managed equipment.

Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
