  Reporting to the IIBA Implementation Manager, the Corporate IIBA Compliance Lead will work collaboratively with the department to ensure effective and efficient implementation and understanding of the IIBA and related IIBA departmental and company wide objectives. Support initiatives to meet Company obligations and foster meaningful community and stakeholder communications and meet reporting requirements. Strong focus and accountability on effective monitoring, compliance and continuous improvement for reporting required by the IIBA.

  Main Accountabilities

  • Support the IIBA Implementation Manager in monitoring IIBA compliance, and oversight in collaboration with the management team at Baffinland

  • Support and collaborate with the IIBA Implementation Manager to ensure effective IIBA implementation

  • Manage the reporting and monitoring systems for the IIBA and ensure these systems and reports are effectively written/implemented and continuously improved on

  • Work with the Community and Strategic Development team to track and resolve issues and questions from the public pertaining to the IIBA

  • Prepare and support the IIBA Implementation Manager in the production of presentation materials and public facing communication materials in conjunction with the communications department

  • Assist with the development of the IIBA annual budget and assist with accruals requirements for the IIBA activities and commitments

  • Ensure alignment on interdepartmental IIBA commitments and associated activities

  • Coordinate and supervise the Community and Strategic development departmental interns

  • Collaborate with management team on existing company policies and programs to determine their compliance with the IIBA and support continuous improvement

  • Develop public facing materials for the IIBA Annual Project Review forum in collaboration with management and senior management teams at Baffinland and the QIA

  • Draft formal correspondence to stakeholders on behalf of the department and for the IIBA Implementation Manager

  • Assess current processes and approaches for IIBA compliance and compliance monitoring and apply methods for continuous improvement for efficiency and effectiveness

  • Prepare reports and documents as required by the IIBA committees and the IIBA Implementation Manager

  • Contribute to managing information of the department by serving as the SharePoint site administrator

  Main Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required, College Diploma preferred

  • 5-7 years of experience in a similar role

  • Demonstrated strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills (oral and written)

  • Ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders – a team player

  • Experience in working with Northern communities, Indigenous organizations, and various levels of Government, preferably in Nunavut, is considered a strong asset

  • Extensive knowledge of Inuit Culture and Communities

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

  • Creative problem solving skills – a solutions oriented collaborator

  • Working knowlege of Microsoft Office
