　　Position:      Cook – Part-time

　　Regency Long Term Care Home & Retirement Community, located in Port Hope, is looking for a qualified Cook to become part of a dynamic Dietary department. The Cook ensures that our Residents are provided with nutritious and delicious meals, that are prepared and served with love. 　　As a Cook, you will be responsible for:

　　Reviewing all menus and prepare food and following standardized recipes and production sheets

　　Assisting with the responsibilities of the Food Services Manager, in their absence.

　　Monitoring quantity and quality of food supplies and recommending corrective action when need be.

　　Coaching Dietary Aides in basic food preparation procedures and in serving activities; assuming responsibility for routine departmental operations in the absence of the Food Services Manager, including staff replacements and service calls for malfunctioning equipment.

　　Maintaining all required records and cooperating with other departments to meet resident needs

　　The ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications:

　　Holds either a chef training certificate, a culinary management certificate or diploma, or it’s equivalent, granted from a college that meets the requirements for employment as outlined in the Ontario Long Term Care Act;

　　For the safety and well-being of our Residents, the Cook will:

　　Possess a current Food Handlers Certificate

　　Successfully pass the tuberculosis (TB) testing

　　Obtain a current and valid Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) Police Reference Check

　　Additional qualifications:

　　Red Seal Cook Trade Certification is considered an asset, but not required

　　Experience in institutional large quantity cooking, preferred

　　Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

　　Proven ability to provide direction and lead others within a busy environment
