WHO WE ARE:
Doyon Technical Services provide Design-Build and General Construction Services on demolition, new construction, renovations, repairs, and civil projects at government-owned facilities and military installations. We work with government clients to meet agency goals and deliver high quality construction projects in the safest manner possible.
*JOB SUMMARY: *
The Senior Estimator prepares cost estimates for construction projects to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service. Depending on the size of the department the Senior Estimator will supervise and oversee estimating operations
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Estimating commercial building construction and civil / public works projectsProject scheduling and cost schedule allocationBudgeting and working with construction / project managersReviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized listsComputes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost effectivenessConducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductionsConsults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issuesInterfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimatesOrganizes and manages a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilizedAnalyzes completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepanciesProvides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costsIdentifies cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement effortsSupervise and mentor Estimators, Project Engineers, and other staff with the estimating departmentEEO/AA Enforcement/Compliance Standards, as set forth further in the Job Summary and Core Requirements sectionsDevelopment of employeesOther duties as assignedQualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in engineering, Construction Management or trade school equivalent10 years' experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceOrganized and self-motivatedExcellent communication and computer skillsExperience using On-Screen Takeoff softwareProficient in using Microsoft ExcelGovernment project experience a plus, but not necessary if other commercial experience is sufficient*WORKING ENVIRONMENT: * The majority of the work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing up to forty pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Occasional travel required.
