Purpose and Scope:
Act as group leader in the execution of routine but varied administrative duties in support of Configuration Management, or as technical expert in specific Configuration Management task element(s). Perform functions in accordance with standard operating procedures. Coordinate and perform multiple tasks. Apply knowledge of policies and procedures, and a specific understanding of other functions relevant to Configuration Management. Maintain records, execute data entry in automated databases, prepare forms, verify information, and resolve routine problems.
Essential Responsibilities:
1) Interface with engineers and technical professionals in the writing, editing, and publication of various types of documents such as test plans, test reports, and survey reports.
2) Perform test and evaluation, check-out, certification tasks. Perform validations/verifications of various computer hardware, firmware, or software.
3) Prepare reviews of change proposals for hardware/software impacts.
4) Assist in accomplishing change instructions.
5) Train others in the Configuration Management unit.
6) Establish and maintain a filing system, databases and logs as needed for tracking project status and inventory.
7) Schedule, track, and report inspections for all generated Specification Changes (SCs) and Interface Change Requests (ICRs) prior to review at CCB.
8) Maintain automated database user accounts and privilege request. Perform as security liaison for task users.
9) Document requirements for implementing software, firmware, and hardware change requests and associated review and statusing in automated databases. Perform analysis and requirements validation for electronic interface between automated databases.
10) Design, develop, and maintain additional task-level configuration and data management database systems.
11) Develop and/or maintain a test procedures database, including test title, baseline applicability, author, reviewer, and current status. Conduct periodic audits of test procedures, providing reports and updating status.
12) Develop, collect, and/or analyze applicable material including Control Board procedures, QAI's and standards, documentation procedures, metrics collection methods, and communication techniques. Analyze results with detailed recommendations for improvements in adjudication meetings and/or written reports.
13) Support tailoring, developing, documenting, and maintaining tools, processes, and procedures required to achieve Capability Maturity Model (CMM) objectives.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Information Systems or related field plus one year of job-related experience, or equivalent. Excellent communication and analytical skills, working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. The ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software. Working knowledge of the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Capability Maturity Model (CMM) as it relates to configuration management. Position may require travel. U. S. Citizenship required for unescorted access to assigned work area(s). Must be able to successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communications, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to meet deadlines.
