　　The mission of the Department of Corrections is to be a public safety resource for Arkansas families by providing professional management solutions and evidence-based rehabilitative initiatives for offenders.

　　All DOC positions are designated as Safety Sensitive Positions and are subject to random drug testing pursuant to the Secretarial Directive governing Personnel Drug Testing. Medical marijuana usage, as defined in Amendment 93 of the Arkansas Constitution, prohibits Personnel in a Safety-Sensitive Position from the use of medical marijuana even if they are qualifying patient under the amendment and/or hold a registry identification card. Department Personnel are prohibited from the use or possession of a medicinal marijuana card pursuant to this policy and state law.

　　Summary

　　The Commissary Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation of an inmate commissary. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

　　Functions

　　Oversees and trains a small staff of inmates in operating the prison commissary including cleaning, unloading supplies, and stocking shelves. Maintains inventory control records, orders supplies, checks invoices, prices merchandise, and dispenses commodities to prisoners and prison personnel. Records money order receipts and purchases to inmates' ledger cards and balances accounts daily. Maintains manual and/or computerized records of cash and card purchases. Balances cash drawer daily, makes bank deposits, and compiles daily transaction records. Provides inmates with merchandise availability lists. Inventories stock of commissary monthly. Performs other duties as assigned.

　　Knowledge of state purchasing practices and procedures. Knowledge of inventory control techniques. Knowledge of general bookkeeping practices. Ability to plan, organize, and oversee the work of others. Ability to understand and prepare records and reports. Ability to maintain inventory and purchase supplies. Ability to establish and maintain office files and records.

　　Minimum Qualifications

　　The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus three years of experience in retail sales, inventory control, purchasing, or related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
