OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF JOB: To perform clerical duties and responsibilities within the Tax Assessment department.

　　QUALIFICATIONS:

　　EDUCATION/TRAINING:  High school diploma or equivalency.

　　WORK EXPERIENCE:  1-2 years working experience in office environment, county government office environment or accounting department preferred.  Or, any acceptable combination of experience and/or training.

　　ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB:

　　Types, sorts, and files notifications and departmental documents.Updates and maintains tax roll, changes address on tax bills.Answers phones within department and directs calls to appropriate individuals.Mails notifications and other necessary information to carry out departmental needs.Dockets and expunges cases when required.Assist public, attorneys, realtors, title searchers, etc. with tax maps, location and particulars of Real property, Improvements and locate related files.Compiles data within the department necessary for completion of reports including occupation permits, etc.

　　KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

　　Must be able to speak and understand the English language and to follow oral and written instructions. Must possess communication and interpersonal skills.Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality in regard to client information and records.Must possess the technical knowledge of operating personal computers, typewriters and other office equipment.Must possess knowledge and ability to practice correct usage of grammar, spelling and filing procedures.Must possess the ability to learn assigned clerical tasks and adhere to prescribed departmental procedures.Must possess the ability to perform simple math calculations and tabulations accurately and within reasonable speed.Must possess the ability to learn County rules, procedures and legal functions.Must possess the ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with staff and the general public.Must have ability to read tax maps, locate real estate parcels and find related files.

　　WORKING CONDITIONS:

　　Works indoors in adequate workspace with adequate temperatures, ventilation and lighting.Works with average indoor exposure to noise and stress, but subject to frequent disruptions.Normal indoor exposure to dust/dirt.Relative to postal duties, there is exposure to all weather conditions.

　　PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

　　Must possess ability to record, convey and present information, explain procedures, follow instructions, pay close attention to details and concentrate on work.Must be able to sit for long periods throughout the workday, with intermittent periods of standing, walking, bending, twisting and reaching necessary to carry out duties of job.Dexterity requirements range from simple to coordinated movements of fingers/hands feet/legs; torso necessary to carry out other duties of job.Sedentary work, with occasional lifting/carrying of objects with a maximum weight of thirty-five (35) pounds.Must demonstrate emotional stability.Must be able to pay close attention to details and concentrate on work.AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
