CNAs at King are responsible for providing directand indirect nursing care, while following individual programs, for 60geriatric, disabled and/or cognitively impaired clients at the WisconsinVeterans Home. Nursing care is provided in accordance with standards setdown by the American Nurses Association, gerontological nursingstandards, federal, state, VA regulations the mission and philosophy andpolicies and procedures of the Wisconsin Veterans Home and Department ofVeterans Affairs. Responsibilities include providing nursing care thatfollows a written care plan to help meet the therapeutic, preventative,restorative, spiritual, psychosocial, cognitive, and rehabilitativeneeds of the members. This includes some cognitive techniques to helpmaintain the demented member at the highest functional level. Thisposition works as an integral part of the Health Care Team under thelimited supervision of a Nursing Supervisor, under the direction oflicensed nursing staff. These are flexible part-time positions with theoption to pick up additional hours as desired with no required overtime.Shifts are available AM, PM, NOC, holidays and weekends. Candidatepreferences gathered at time of interview. LTE jobs are limited to 1039hours in a 12-month period and do not include employee benefits. Jobduties require the ability to assist in patient mobility efforts, standand/or walk up to 75% of eight-hour day to provide assessments, kneel,stoop, make visual observations, lift, push, pull, carry, reach,maintain hygiene, use special safety equipment, and wear protectiveclothing. Employment in this position is contingent upon passing apre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test. Due to the nature of thepositions, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to anoffer of employment.
