Gordon Food Service is hiring an Category Specialist JIT. This candidate will support the North American Manager of Product Support in executing strategies to support margin and sales goals by troubleshooting, analyzing, and implementing JIT programs across North America. Communicates out of stock and supply chain interruptions to minimize sales and customer impact. Supports both GFS and Strategic Alliances to maintain a consistent flow of product available for customers. Provides day to day operational improvement recommendations to the Product Owner and uses available data and reporting to reduce liquidation and improve customer service, maximizing Gordon Food Service (GFS) sales and net margin of JIT product lines.
Responsibilities:
Provides support and recommendations in the development of strategies, providing insight to achieve higher service level and lower liquidation in support of JIT program customer and brand marketing plans.
Executes all aspects of new JIT program implementation with respect to the JIT application.
Collaborates with the Product Owner, GTS, Category, Plants, and Merchandising to ensure that customer orders are flowing properly and missed items are captured and delivered as intended.
Assists the Product Owner in system and cutoff maintenance in crisis situations.
Assists or conducts JIT training to relevant groups.
Assists in implementation of strategic changes to process.
Maintains a working knowledge of quality assurance requirements for products, GFS brands, and vendor compliance.
Creates and analyzes reporting of various types (liquidation, order cancellation, stock reporting, etc) to actively manage the week to week operation of the JIT business.
Develops and manages strategic relationships with suppliers with respect to holiday schedules and crisis communications.
Ideal candidate will have:
Marketing / Product - knowledge of principles and methods for JIT program mechanics and processes. Knowledge of JIY product and marketing segments.
Project Management Skills - able to understand, follow and create processes in order to complete improvement projects.
Business Acumen - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Data Analysis / Analytics Skills - Proficiency in analyzing information; able to use analytics and associated tools (e.g., Excel, Access, SAP, JIT) in creative ways to tell the product story, garner buy-in, provide insights and to support decision-making.
Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Experience:
More than two years of systems, Just In Time or business process improvement knowledge or previous experience preferred as typically obtained through a bachelor's prepared education or a combination of applicable on-the-job experience and education, or an internship.
