Position Purpose & Scope - Career Technologies Manager To support student career development 24/7, the Career & Internship Center contracts with several companies offering products that help students with career exploration, job searching, and more. We are hiring a Career Technologies Manager (payroll title: Program Operations Specialist) to oversee all parts of these vendor relationships to ensure we are maximizing them and optimally serving our stakeholders, all while staying in compliance with UW privacy, security, and IT regulations. The person in this role will also contribute to decision-making about renewing existing contracts and beginning new ones. Handshake, uConnect, and LinkedIn Learning will be the primary focus of this role, but the successful candidate will also be involved with several additional vendor partners. This position is supervised by the center’s Executive Director and will work in close partnership with both Associate Directors. This role is eligible for up to 40% (2 days) of telework per week, dependent on staff, employer, and student needs. Anticipated salary is $67,500 to $69,500.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Administrative:• Manage vendor paperwork regarding contracts, renewals, and data privacy• Enter and maintain data in UW’s data inventory platform, TrustArc• Develop, implement, and document policies and procedures for departmental and campus stakeholder utilization of various vendor products• Submit proposals, renewals, and reports to current and prospective funding sources such as the Student Tech Fee Committee• Develop a schedule for detailed account, page, and resource review and upkeep• Investigate and meet with prospective vendor partners
Technical:• Become a content expert on each vendor product, including the integrations between them• Consult with UWIT on implementing and troubleshooting integrations, single-sign-on, student data uploads, and similar• Report and resolve issues with vendors as quickly as possible to ensure minimal user disruption• As needed, report technical and security issues to relevant campus stakeholders• Thoroughly read all vendor newsletters and meet with vendors on a routine basis to learn of new features, discuss challenges, enroll in beta testing, and ensure we are maximizing product offerings
Account and Approvals Management:• Daily management of the [email protected] inbox and user account requests• Daily management of requests from employers to post jobs and events• Weekly management of student account error reports and resulting action items• Quarterly facilitation of several user access projects
Analytics & Assessment:• Routinely access analytics to investigate who is and who is not using various resources, how they are finding it, what features they are using, etc.• Run reports on user engagement to contribute to the center’s annual report• Seek feedback from users on user experience and technology impact to enable data-informed decision-making
Education & Outreach• Create resources to educate students on how to maximize featured programs• Reach out to career technology users to suggest other relevant resources• Work with the center’s social media intern on a schedule for promoting various products
Campus Partner Engagement:• Train and refresh center staff and the broader UW staff community on career technologies to ensure the effectiveness of referrals• Reach out to campus departments to embed relevant career technologies on various UW web pages• Schedule, plan, and lead meetings of key campus stakeholders utilizing specific technologies; track and follow-through on resulting action items
Consultation:• Occasionally, for other Student Life units, provide consultation on evaluating products, assessing technical requirements, and integrating with UW systems
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s degree• 2 years of experience working with diverse technical products in an advanced capacity
Additional requirements:• Ability to understand nuanced technical information, assess how it applies to our center, and work with technical professionals on and off campus to implement it• Skill in discerning how best to analyze user engagement, satisfaction, and product impact• Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally to diverse audiences – in writing, online environments, one-to-one settings, and group settings• Experience seeking out and implementing feedback from others• Commitment to contributing to an inclusive work environment
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
