How will you make an impact?
The Sustainability Specialist will be part of the Sustainability team focused on our global effort to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer by improving practices in our operations, products, and supply chain. This role will focus on working with key suppliers to communicate expectations on sustainability and decarbonization, track supplier participation to sustainability requirements, and collaborate with global procurement and business colleagues to integrate sustainability into supply chain decision making.
What will you do?
Work closely with procurement to engage suppliers in support of Thermo Fisher’s net zero goals and Scope 3 emissions reduction ambitions.
Schedule, and manage supplier meetings and other engagements, participate in supplier events, and manage achievement of resulting action items.
Communicate and educate suppliers on greenhouse gas emissions topics including carbon foot printing and GHG emissions baselining, science-based target setting, sharing of emissions data, and decarbonization road mapping
In collaboration with global procurement/supply chain, support negotiation with suppliers to define timelines and milestones for meeting Thermo Fisher expectations.
Support the development, execution, and distribution of content related to decarbonization such as supplier toolkits, FAQ’s, trainings, etc.
Collect and assess data to ensure high data quality
Taking direction from your manager, track all actions and KPIs to record and report support of net-zero in-year objectives
Support supplier adoption of digital solutions used to manage supplier engagement and emissions data sharing
Track engagement notes, decisions, and outcomes to identify supplier maturity and demonstrate the value of engagement
Technical Responsibilities
Contributes updates to overall project plans, tracking key milestones, and timelines
Detects, calls out and facilitates issue resolution and/or appropriate partner concern and address program risk
Identifies opportunities to drive continuous improvement
Supports data analysis to drive action against objectives
Proficiency in Powerpoint, Smartsheet and Excel
How will you get here?
Bachelors degree required. Engineering, Business, Analytics, or Environmental Sciences preferred
A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience. Procurement, supply chain and/or program management experience preferred
Background in life sciences, bioTech, pharma, manufacturing industry, and/or sustainability consulting preferred
Demonstrated passion for and knowledge of corporate environmental sustainability
Well-developed analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills with an ability to tailor data-heavy messages to specific audiences
Proven experience in a role requiring high-attention to detail, data analysis, and organization skills in a fast-paced environment
Ability to efficiently coordinate communication with team members
Demonstrated ability to deliver assigned projects, with exemplary capability to follow-up and follow-through
Ability to work independently, within a team, and collaboratively across teams
Multi-tasking skills and planning for prioritizing personal workload
