Purpose of Role:
The Brand Finance Advertising & Promotions Manager supports the US Spirits Marketing team with resource allocation, budgeting, and strategic planning to support obtainment of our US Spirits objectives. This is an exciting role that has high visibility across Marketing and Finance leadership, providing insights to Marketing Leadership, as well as cross-functional Finance senior leadership.
The key objective of this role is to own and lead the marketing budget from resource allocation to day-to-day management for the US Spirits division, well over $5B in NSV and >$1B in A&P, working with the marketing and finance teams to produce insightful analysis and recommendations. This role reports to the Director of Brand Finance for US Spirits, supporting thoughtful investment of A&P across our Brand Portfolio and drives process excellence / compliance in A&P spend / execution – requiring collaboration with the Central Marketing team, Brand teams, Innovation, Commercial and other functional groups within Diageo who play active roles in investment decisions.
Central to this role is the ability to build and sustain strong working relationships throughout the organization – including the ability to influence and build alignment across functions and grades. The need for this quality is heightened through the requirement to work alongside senior leadership across Marketing and Finance.
Context/Scope:
A&P financial business partner to our brands and central marketing teamsSupporting thoughtful investment of A&P across our portfolio of brandsBuilding the financial competence of the Marketing Team, especially as it relates to A&PProviding financial oversight across all A&P brand budgetsPartnering with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency initiatives and ensure effective allocation of resources and efficient use of investmentsRequires the individual to excel functionally and to build effective working relationships across brand and commercial teams at all levels of the organizationPartnering with A&P Support Team in Budapest to drive process excellence in A&P, ensure adherence to the principles of budgetary control in all marketing teams, and ensure all activities align with Diageo strategy and standards.Champion the compliance agenda and maintain a strong internal control & compliance environment
Finance Manager will support:
Portfolio & Annual Planning:Support ongoing portfolio analysis & Investment allocation in line with financial targets; complete analysis to guide portfolio strategy execution (competitive benchmarking, return on investment analysis, etc.)Lead Annual Planning A&P Process with Brand teams and Broader Central Marketing Team, including process design and rollout across brand teams (end to end process from initial A&P allocation to ultimate upload into CPS)Assess investment opportunities to ensure they align with overall strategy and financial targets. Develop return on investment analyses to evaluate programs, opportunities, and cost savings initiativesHandle ongoing A&P reporting and articulation of Investment StrategyParticipate in portfolio-level critical initiativesA&P Budget ManagementHandle A&P Budget Risk and Opportunities in partnership with Budapest and Central Marketing teams; lead recommendations on how to centrally run A&P Risks / OppsField incoming A&P requests and coordinate A&P Pitch process in partnership with Central MarketingSupport Hard Close Process with Budapest A&P Team and Central Marketing - lead all aspects of process, support ABM needs, ensure sound executionA&P Improvement In ExecutionSupport overall A&P Operational improvement effortsQ&A / Financial SavvyDevelop and deploy training materials for Marketing team on Diageo Financial processes and competence, Proper Expense Management, issue resolution, systems useField incoming questions from brand teams and resolve / redirect as needed

Qualifications and Experience Required:
5+ years of relevant business experienceBachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required. MBA and / or recognized accounting qualification preferredBrand Finance Experience strongly preferred, CPG Experience preferredOutstanding analytical, financial modeling, and presentation skillsStrong interpersonal skills with a validated ability to collaborate with various partners, build relationships, and influence across large matrix organizationStrong leadership skills and ability to engage and manage senior customers across the organizationCapacity to communicate sophisticated ideas in simple understandable termsHigh energy and drive
