Position Overview
A Front Row Seat to InnovationThe Behavioral Health Specialist is a critical role in the psychiatric care ofpatients. This position also serves as a system-wide resource, providingdirect patient care and safety including supervision and management ofchildren and adolescents.The psychiatric emergency department provides triage services 24 hours a dayto patients suffering from a range of mental health and behavioral disorders.Our primary purpose is to increase patient stability for transfer ordischarge. Primary responsibilities of Behavioral Health Specialists areinitial psych triage with ongoing watches to monitor the well-being of ourpatients. In addition to assessment other responsibilities are patientde-escalation and team leadership.Front line intervention for psych patients Interacts with multiple disciplinesacross the hospital.( to read more about the BHS units at Children's Hospital Colorado)Annual Salary Range: $19.93 to $29.00 / Hourly SalaryHours per week: Part time and Full time positions are available. Pleaseidentify your preferences in the questions within the application.Please note: The Behavioral Health Specialist may begin their shift in oneunit and based on a change in census and acuity be reallocated to a differentunit to meet operational needs. However, it is also possible for theBehavioral Health Specialist to experience extended periods of time in onedepartment to offset long-term absences through the Months ProgramMake an ImpactQualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree with a minor in psychology or related fieldEquivalency: Professional relevant experience may substitute for thebachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.Certification(s): Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR certificationPatient Stabilization Patient Safety Patient Triage Patient MonitoringExperience preferredJob Highlights:Provides direct patient care and management of children and adolescents whileunder the direction of a registered nurse or licensed psychiatricprofessional.Leads, monitors and collaborates educational and therapeutic groups forpatients.Participates in clinical rounds, maintains communication with unit ordepartment leadership.Responds as part of the Behavioral Assistance Resource Team; providesassistance to patients, family members or visitors 18 years of age andyounger exhibiting the potential for harm to self or others.Ensures proper documentation of patient progress; completes 15-minutepatient checks; provides one-to-one patient observation and or milieumanagement..
