Description
We are in search of a dedicated Family Law Legal Assistant to support successful attorneys in a busy Minneapolis family law practice. This role requires a high level of professionalism, administrative expertise, and a comprehensive understanding of family law procedures. The ideal candidate will have outstanding organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a strong commitment to client service.
Responsibilities:
Provide administrative support to lawyers and enhance office effectiveness in handling family law cases.
Prepare legal documents and correspondence such as petitions, complaints, motions, and subpoenas.
File court documents electronically and perform general clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing, mailing and filing.
Assist attorneys in preparing for trials and court proceedings.
Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles.
Maintain contact with clients and ensure timely communication.
Handle client queries and provide timely updates on case progress.
Manage legal documentation and correspondence in strict confidence.
Coordinate law office activities such as subpoena delivery.
Assist in billing activities, including time entry, processing incoming payments, and coordinating with the accounting department.
Requirements
Proven experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary, preferably in a family law firm
Familiarity with family law procedures and protocols, and Minnesota District Court System.
Knowledge of case management systems and legal research platforms.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel), Adobe Acrobat, and electronic document management systems.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong research and report-generating skills.
Detail-oriented, professional and reliable.
Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
