  Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) division is seeking an Avionics Subsystem Engineering and Validation Manager to provide support to the Satellite System & Subsystems Engineering Department in El Segundo, CA .

  The Avionics Subsystem Engineering and Validation Manager within the Satellite System & Subsystems Engineering Department of Satellite Systems will manage 15-20 assigned subsystem and validation engineers. The manager is responsible for managing the people, processes, and tools needed to execute the subsystem design and validation scope across the majority of Commercial and Government programs in Satellite Systems.

  Position Responsibilities:

  End-to-end Flight Systems Engineering including ACS architecture, design, pointing budgets and embedded algorithms.

  Avionics Subsystem Engineering – work with hardware engineers, software engineers, vendors, and spacecraft architects to ensure quality and cost-effective sensor, actuator, algorithms, and avionics are utilized and delivered on time.

  Avionics Subsystem Validation – All aspects of subsystem validation, typically performed on a hardware in the loop environment (HITL/BSE) including integrated testing of new hardware (ICST).

  Proactive management of staffing assignments including recruitment, hiring, staffing, growth and retention of engineers.

  Manage, mentor, and facilitate development and growth of subsystem engineers

  Create, maintain and apply tools and processes.

  Maintain a technology & tools roadmap that enables sustained future improvement

  Engaging in end-to-end program lifecycle planning and execution (cost, schedule, technical, quality).

  Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with a broad set of stakeholders including customers, peers, direct reports, all spacecraft subsystems and mission operations.

  Conduct performance appraisals, salary reviews and administer required company training.

  Provide factory support as needed for on-orbit fault related signatures or issues.

  This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

  Work Authorization:

  This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.

  Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position.

  Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  4 years of experience in engineering and technical leadership experience in GN&C technologies, (In particular flight vehicle management systems design, analysis, validation, and testing).

  1 year leading multi-disciplined complex engineering projects across multiple organizations.

  3 years of experience using analytical, collaboration, communication and organizational skills.

  Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  Experience with trade studies related to Altitude Control Subsystems (ACS).

  Experience in aerospace operations and environments is desired.

  Experience with Attitude Control Subsystems (ACS) requirements verification and validation.

  Experience working with flight software development process.

  Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

  Summary pay range: 136,850 – 185,150

  Export Control Requirements: U.S. Government Export Control Status: This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.

  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
