Niagara County Community College is thrilled to announce the launch of our new flight school that is launching in the Fall of 2024. Nestled between the world-famous Niagara Falls and the vibrant city of Buffalo, NY, our college is committed to providing exceptional education and fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for both students and staff.
We are actively seeking a seasoned Aviation Instructor to play a pivotal role in shaping the success of our aviation program. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to the growth of our new flight school. The ideal candidate will bring extensive aviation knowledge, a strong commitment to safety, and a genuine passion for educating the next generation of aviators.
This is a full-time, 12 month, tenure-track position contained in the Division of Business & STEM . This position is responsible for teaching and advising students throughout the academic year. Will also be responsible for attending meetings and participating in committees on campus as well. Classes are held at NCCC’s main campus located in Sanborn, NY and at approved flight school locations.
The start date of this position will be late Spring 2024 for preparation for the start of the Fall 2024 Semester.
There is the potential to increase the base salary by teaching overload and other assignments,. There is also a pathway for promotion to higher level salary positions (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor).

Typical Work Activities
Teaching 15 contact hours per semester (fall and spring)
Student advisement caseload
Participation in departmental activities and sustainability
Participate on college standing committees
Participate in continual assessment of program and SLO’s
Maintains proper inventory controls and class requisitions
Participate in curriculum development
Utilize Curriculum management Data to ensure proper class scheduling based on enrollment trends
Incorporate Brightspace as a mode of communication and retention strategies for students.
Participation in program recruitment and open house activities
Other duties as assigned
Essential Functions
Must be able to coordinate numerous tasks and projects simultaneously; must possess good organizational skills; must possess and have proven excellent customer service skills; must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors and students both verbally and in writing; must also possess good listening skills and be able to understand and follow written and/or oral instructions; must be able to navigate relationships with diverse populations as well as members of the WNY community; ability to operate computers; ability to prepare written report; must have the capability to travel; must be able to work evenings and weekends as required; ability to physically perform the functions of the position.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required
FAA 3rd class medical
FAA Commercial or ATP certificate, Certified Flight Instructor ( CFI , CFII )
Minimum of 1,000 flight hours, 500 hours of flight instruction given of which at least 125 must be instrument instruction given.
Desirable Qualifications
Master’s degree in Aviation, Physics, or related field.
FAA 2nd class medical
Community College teaching experience
Multi-Engine Instructor ( MEI )
