VCA Family & Oahu Veterinary Specialty Center is looking for a Veterinary Specialty Technician Manager to join our dynamic team and oversee our Specialty/ER/CCU Departments with passion and the ability to help motivate, engage, and train a team of veterinary professionals.
The ideal candidate will be excellent at training and mentoring. They will have advanced veterinary skills. Requirements
Licensed Veterinary Technician in the state of Hawaii or eligible to transfer/obtain license in Hawaii
5+ years of clinical experience
Team leadership experience
Passion for Veterinary Medicine
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

As a Specialty Technician Manager, you will…
Demonstrate highly advanced proficiency as a Veterinary Technician within their appropriate department and maintains all related skills and knowledge.
Create effective working relationships with hospital leadership to ensure standards of care are understood, effectively communicated, and delivered upon.
Serve as a subject-matter expert and resource to Technicians and Assistants regarding daily operations, patient care, and skill development.
Serve as a mentor to staff by demonstrating positive work habits, effective clinical skills and business knowledge.
Identify conflicts in the workplace and seek assistance in resolution in order to create effective working relationships.
Coach staff to create a culture of strong performance and high productivity.
Clearly communicate with team members to ensure consistent understanding of new ideas, changes in protocol, policies, and impending changes.
Build positive relationships across the hospital and administration to facilitate an environment of teamwork.
Implement process improvement initiatives.
Work with the Technician Training Manager to schedule ongoing training.
Document performance-related issues, assesses team members during annual review, and provides hospital leadership with recommendations related to performance management and discipline.
