POSITION SUMMARY
Works with Community Outreach team to develop, implement and coordinate community relations strategies on behalf of the Department of Public Safety, by interacting with community leaders, key community groups, external agencies, educators, representatives of Public Safety bureaus, other City officials and residents within all city neighborhoods. Senior Project Coordinators promote the department’s mission and goals through the creation and implementation of strategic initiatives, organizing community groups, written content and story material for the Public Safety Administration website and through publications for distribution. Senior Project Coordinators have extensive experience conducting Safer Together programs and have a demonstrated record of successful outcomes.

A current, valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver's License is required prior to appointment, and must be maintained throughout employment. Applicants must be currently employed in the position of Safer Together Pittsburgh Project Coordinator with the City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety.

Qualifying Requirements :
Your City of Pittsburgh application will be reviewed and your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position. You will be sent an eligibility letter regarding your eligible/ineligible status.
WORK EXPERIENCE: The applicant must possess five (5) years of full-time experience as a Safer Together Pittsburgh Project Coordinator with good performance. (Full-time is defined as 32 hours or more per week. Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.)
EDUCATION/TRAINING: The application must clearly show a Bachelor's Degree in Program Administration, Community/Human Development, Sociology, Social Work, Public Health, Urban Affairs, Public Policy/Management, or a related field. (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training.)
EQUIVALENCY: Education/training and/or work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis if the application clearly shows the required number of years to meet the Total Qualifying Requirement for this position (based on the sum of work experience and education/training listed above). Work experience may not be substituted for the required High-School Diploma or GED equivalency. The Total Qualifying Requirement is nine (9) years. (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training.)

POSITION DUTIES
Helps lead projects that improve business processes and increase efficiency.
Provides support to Safer Together Coordinators to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Fills in at Zone Council meetings when there is a deficit and helps other Coordinators bring in speakers; assists with troubleshooting and community concerns.
Staffs various committees or boards made up of community leaders, city officials, educators and/or non-profits who will help guide the community relations objectives of the organization.
Assists in developing and recommending policies and procedures for program development and operation.
Organizes and promotes educational events and seminars.
Attends a broad range of public community meetings and acts as a representative of the Department of Public Safety in such forums.
Plans, initiates and creates new programs and vehicles through which the Department of Public Safety community outreach team can deliver new services to the community or ways to promote the benefits of existing programs.
Works with members of the staff and bureaus to identify opportunities to publicly highlight outreach strategies and activities that enhance the relationship between Public Safety bureaus and the community.
Keeps abreast of current local and national social trends and prepares written or oral reports interpreting data and detailing proposed strategies for response or improvement of community interaction with Public Safety bureaus.
Performs areas of responsibility in strict accordance with applicable laws, regulations and established policy.
Performs such other related tasks and duties that are assigned or required.
