Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Dean of the Daniels College of Business, theAssociate Dean of Finance & Business Operations is responsible for thefiscal health of the Daniels College of Business. The Associate Dean willprovide high quality, creative, and solutions-oriented financial directionand expertise at the strategic, operational, and administrative levels ofthe College. The Associate Dean is responsible for all financial andadministrative activities at the College, including but not limited to,budget development and management, personnel management, financialpolicies, procedures and controls, financial aid, strategic initiativesand facilities and technology management. The position has a dotted reportingline to the Offices of the Provost and Business & Affairs on mattersrelating to budget development, planning, and management.
Essential Functions
Fiscal Management and Accounting
Wholly responsible for dynamic budgetary planning, forecasting and fiscalmanagement in a tuition-bearing and strategic revenue-generating unit with$75M revenue, $47M expenses, $5.7M designated funds, $103M endowments.Direct the analysis and interpretation of financial information in thedevelopment of operational plans; ensure all gift and endowment fundedprograms and activities are properly and accurately funded; forecastcritical milestones and potential obstacles and evaluate alternate courses ofaction.Lead the development of College policies and procedures to govern financialdecision-making ensuring the achievement of revenue objectives and expensemanagement; collaborate with the Dean, Associate Deans and Academic Chairsto balance short-term and long-term objectives to maximize the financialperformance for the College.Recommend and implement long-range financial objectives to meet strategicgoals, including growth projections and expense management plans.Form partnerships with Academic Chairs, Program Directors and StaffDepartment Leaders to translate department goals and objectives into clear andunderstandable budgets and identify existing resources or strategize methodsto obtain new resources.Evaluate and revise policies, procedures and internal controls to supportefficiency and effectiveness throughout the College and in support ofUniversity strategic goals.Oversee fiscal activity of the College including but not limited to journalentries, check requests, expense reports, purchasing and validatefunding sources.Oversee administrative assistants ensuring transactions are done on-timewithin policy and within budget.Review and analyze all endowments and gifts for to ensure proper andeffective usage in addition to substantiated funding.Personnel Management
Direct human resource transactions including but not limited to jobpostings, offers and hires, separations ensurin alignment with budgets.
Maintain complete and accurate employment records for all faculty and staffwhich includes but is not limited to offers, promotions, reappointments,administrative appointments, fellowships, sabbaticals and separations.Liaise with HR Partner on personnel matters to ensure the College isoperating within University policy and employment laws.Coordinate with HR Partner regarding workforce planning, performancemanagement, and people development.Review quarterly adjunct, non-benefited and student hires ensuringoperational and budgetary needs are met.Monitor faculty load specifically to determine course buyouts and facultyoverload.Oversee payroll for overload, summer teaching and summer support ensuringpayments are accurate, documented and within policy.Financial Aid
Create and manage an improved process for undergraduate & graduatefinancial aid.
Ensure funded scholarships are maximized and awarded in accordance withdonor terms and conditions.Ensure funded scholarships are properly awarded prior to the start of eachacademic quarter.Manage unfunded aid to meet net tuition and enrollment goals.Analyze the graduate assistant award process and revise policy tostrategically utilize program to the greater benefit of students and faculty.Develop and foster a positive working relationship with University FinancialAid.Facilities & Technology
