The Toner Development Chemist position is responsible for leading activities related to new product development within the Automotive Vehicle Refinish segment of the Performance Coatings Group. The incumbent will have opportunities to demonstrate leadership while providing support to internal customers such as management, manufacturing, marketing, and quality.Accountable for providing timely and accurate solutions to multiple challenges of moderate to difficult complexity.Effectively communicates with managers, customers, and vendors, as well as utilizes an internal network of resources.Leads one highly technically challenging project or leads multiple simple projects.Perform material evaluations, problem solving and formulation work in support of existing and new product developmentLead both short and long term, new product development and/or problem investigation projectsDraw sound conclusions based on observations and dataProvide effective verbal and written feedback to communicate results and project statusUse of good laboratory practices, including notebook documentationPerform laboratory work while maintaining safety as a top priorityMaintain and operate a variety of laboratory equipment in a safe and efficient mannerFunction effectively in a team environmentTravel Requirements: Up to 10%BASIC QUALIFICATIONSMust be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.Computer knowledge and data analysisExcellent math knowledgePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSDegree in Chemistry, Polymers or CoatingsExperience working with products and technologies including but not limited to Vehicle Refinish basecoats and single stage coatings.Experience formulating solvent and water borne systems.Experience formulating robust dispersions.Understanding of color science and effect pigments utilized in Automotive styling.Sherwin-Williams is proud to be an Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, Inclusion and Diversity Supportive Employer.
