The Archives Leadership Institute (ALI) is a program of the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) and seeks to build the capacity of mid-career archivists as leaders both in their own institutions and in the archives field. The ALI Assistant will support a project that will bring 25 professional memory workers (archivists, librarians, and curators) to Grounds in June 2024 for a one-week leadership institute. This grant-funded project needs an enthusiastic and responsible student to assist the project director with planning and coordinating the in-person institute.
Activities leading up to the on-Grounds event include:
supporting the application and selection process of the institute cohort,
communicating plans with the cohort,
updating institute website,
some social media communications.
The assistant will play a lead role in assisting the cohort with their travel arrangements through UVA’s travel agent and coordinating their arrival to and departure from Charlottesville.
This is an opportunity for a student to work closely with UVA Library leadership (the Associate University Librarian for Special Collections) to make this national institute a success.
