Our section prides itself on its strong and integrated programs inclinical care, research, and education. The strength of our clinicalprograms is essential not only to our ability to provide excellentpatient care, but to our ability to perform research that advances thefrontiers of clinical practice and to train future generations ofphysicians in hospital medicine. Our research programs allow us toadvance the scientific basis and clinical practice of hospital medicineand to train hospital medicine researchers who can carry this scientificmission into the future, often finding inspiration in the desire tosolve clinical dilemmas we encounter in our own practices. Likewise, ourtraining programs allow us to bring talented young persons into therelatively new field of hospital medicine, preparing them for productiveand sustainable careers as clinicians, researchers, and educators. OurAPPs are a vital component of our section. They work at the highestscope of practice clinically and have opportunities for robustmentorship to pursue passions within the academic realm.
Job Summary
The Advanced Practice Provider will provide specialized care to patientson the inpatient Hospital service and general medicine consult servicefor the Section of Hospital Medicine in the Department of Medicine.
Responsibilities
Works with a multidisciplinary team to manage a caseload of patientsby using advanced clinical skills to assess, diagnose and managepatients under supervision of a licensed physician.Conducts admission evaluations and discharge planning ofhospitalized medical patients, complete admissions and dischargepaperwork for patients admitted to assign services and provideinitial assessment and management of urgent issues for hospitalizedpatients.Service time is expected to include weekday and weekend daytimecoverage.Initiates evaluation and management of patient care includingindependent advanced practice provider interventions within thescope of practice and potential for evaluation of care at night.Performs routine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within thescope of practice.Identifies and participates in areas of additional academic passionsincluding opportunities in hospitalist research, operations,education and quality care.Participates in the development, review and evaluation of standardsand protocols.Evaluates goals and outcomes taking into account thebenefit-versus-burden, safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness forthe patient, family and the organization.Develops diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions neededto achieve the goals and outcomes of the patient\'s plan of care.Performs other related work as needed.Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree from anaccredited school/college.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through acombination of education and a minimum of 2 years of relevant workexperience in a related job discipline.

Certifications:
Current and/or eligible for State of Illinois licensure/registrationrequired. Eligibility to be privileged and credentialed through theMedical Staff Office (MSO). - State of Illinois

Preferred Competencies
