Under limited supervision, reviews, analyzes, processes and maintains accounting and fiscal transactions and records to ensure operational quality and efficiency measures are achieved. Job requires basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, theory and practices, sufficient to perform routine professional accounting tasks. Work is covered by clearly defined policies and accounting principles and the employee must exercise judgment in searching for solutions or new applications to accomplish objectives. The worker plans and organizes the work, determines their own priorities, and the work is reviewed after the fact in terms of quality, volume, timeliness and for adherence to established methods, standards and policies. Identifies and suggests solutions to new and/or unusual circumstances. Regular contact with people in other work groups, customers and vendors is required to obtain, clarify or give facts or information.
Accounting:
Unitizations: identify and assign (purchased, built/created, or donated) assets to appropriate account(s) for depreciation.Review the work of Accountant(s)Review, reconcile and prepare journal entries related to property, plant and equipment transactions.Review, update and maintain processes and procedures.Month-end closing procedures for Fixed Assets System and Oracle.Review and close work orders in Oracle and Fixed Assets SystemPowerPlan and prepare related journal entries.Create locations and retirement units in Fixed Assets System.Create projects in Oracle Projects. Transfer funds as appropriate.Maintain financial records, accounts, ledgers and journals.Analyze and audits accounting and fiscal data, records and reports.Prepare journal entries and posts transactions to proper accounts. Prepare summaries, comprehensive reports, invoices and statements. Reconcile and balance accounting records and ledgers.Compose correspondence.Operate standard office equipment and uses required software applications.Adhoc reporting.Perform other job-related work as assigned.*OPEN REQUIREMENTS:*Bachelor's degree in Accounting and three (3) years of experience in accounting. -OR-A seven year (7) year combination of education, training, &/or experience in accounting which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities and must include successful completion of eighteen (18) semester hours of accounting courses at the college level.
