ABOUT THE POSITION
Clark County is accepting online applications for the 2024 Summer Business Institute (SBI) – a summer paid internship program for current high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are at least 16 years old by June 10, 2024. Interviews for the internship positions will be held March 18, 2024 through April 8, 2024.
Please note the following important program dates: The SBI internship will have a mandatory Orientation for the intern and their parent/guardian the afternoon of Tuesday, May 28, 2028 followed by a training session on Thursday, June 6, 2024. Work will begin Monday, June 10, 2024 and run through Wednesday, July 31, 2024 with no breaks in service. Given the short duration of this internship, SBI is not able to accommodate extended absences for vacation, college visits, summer camps or other purposes. Please apply only if you are committed to participating in the full program.
Clark County launched the SBI Program in 1996 in an effort to expose inner-city youth to the variety of career choices around them. Over the years, the program was expanded to serve a more diverse student population.
This is the 28th year Clark County has sponsored the SBI Program, which provides selected teenagers internship opportunities in a variety of fields including law, medicine, engineering, education, recreation, information technology and communications. The program is a partnership between Clark County, the Clark County School District, and more than 80 area businesses.
Through collaborative partnerships, participants will be paid $12.00 an hour to work eight-hour days Monday through Wednesday. As part of their internship on Thursdays, interns will learn about financial management and life skills through seminars, workshops and hands-on experience. Additionally, all participants may be eligible for college scholarships at the close of the program.
