As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will play a central role in the success of the next generation of surgical robotics by bringing technical expertise and interpersonal skills to a sophisticated, fast-paced development team. You will guide development of system and subsystem architecture and design with a focus on capital equipment by maintaining a comprehensive view of the system and balancing input from both the business and the user. In this role, you will drive key architectural, design, and interface decisions and are responsible for ensuring the completeness and quality of the associated design controls and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Define Architecture, Requirements, and Risk Management deliverables for a complex electro-mechanical system and associated subsystem(s) with a focus on capital equipment.
Guide multi-functional teams though tradeoff decisions, balancing customer and business benefit with technical complexity, safety and effectiveness, schedule risk and other factors.
Understand the needs of customers and the business and align multi-functional R&D teams to meet these needs through effective leadership and strong written and verbal communication.
Key contributor with engineering teams to plan and de-risk remaining development work, considering key interactions and interfaces.
Help define and refine Systems Engineering processes and practices.
Collaborate with verification teams to develop test strategies and ensure design inputs are verifiable.
Qualifications
Required:
Minimum Bachelor's degree required in Engineering (e.g., Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Biomedical), Computer Science, or other related field.
Minimum 4 years of related work experience in an engineering role.
Proven effectiveness in leading and collaborating across organizational boundaries (e.g. project teams, functions, and partner organizations).
Working knowledge of system-level tools and processes used for requirements management and risk management.
Experience translating business and user needs to system and subsystem architecture and requirements.
Experience partitioning and decomposing complex engineering problems into solvable problems.
Ability to effectively communicate concepts and ideas to multi-functional audiences.
Proven success working within quality management systems.
Ability to travel up to 25% travel, domestic and/or international.
Preferred:
A minimum of 2 years in a systems engineering role.
Experience with surgical devices, procedures, and customers (users).
Experience within medical device industry or other regulated industry.
Experience performing product risk analysis activities (e.g., in accordance with ISO 14971).
Experience working in an Agile development context.
Experience with JAMA or similar requirements management tools.
Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $116,700.00 to $187,795.00.
