  Helena School District # 1 has a full-time Level I (Special Education) TItle I Para Educator opening. This position is presently assigned to Helena High School and is scheduled for 7 hours per school day.

  At Helena Public schools, our vision is to foster dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. As a Level I (Special Education) Title I Para Educator, you contribute to this mission by assisting students’ daily training programs who need a little bit of extra help. You will work as part of a team of 70 serving 8,000 students and 18 campuses across Helena. Some of what you will do:

  Applies understanding of individual needs to assist special services students with learning assigned materials and instructional exercises that supports the growth of the whole child.

  Tutors special services students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow up learning activity.

  Provide assistance with hygiene and feeding, escorting children to various rooms, and loading and unloading of student on buses as needed.

  Assist in maintaining appropriate documentation.

  To become part of the dedicated team at Helena High School, you need:

  Associate’s degree or higher and/or

  Two years of study at an institute of higher education (no degree) and/or

  Successful completion of PASS course and/or

  Willing to complete PASS course

  Up to three (3) months of related experience and/or training;

  Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District.

  The ideal candidate will possess an associate’s degree (or equivalent education) and has experience working with disabled children. The successful candidate has the ability to safely work with escalated students who may hit, kick, bite and scratch during crisis intervention prevention. Essential functions of the position include the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and/or push/pull up to 100 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation. Current entry level salary range is $14.66 to $18.16 per hour depending on education level and applicable relevant work experience and includes a comprehensive benefit package including coverage during the summer break. Note: Salary amounts for the 2023-2024 school year have not been determined. Salaries will be adjusted accordingly.
