Description
Robert Half is currently working with a client looking to fill a Payroll & Benefits Manager position. This Payroll & Benefits Manager will help achieve standards that are necessary for growth within the financial department and will be responsible for work on tax-related tasks, such as W2 forms, preparing reports and updating policies. This may be the role for you if you are a dynamic Payroll Manager with excellent communication, proven leadership, and are deadline driven.
Key responsibilities
Collaborate with Human Resources (HR) and accounting teams
Follow internal policies and act in accordance with relevant laws
Create reports and ensure accuracy of records
Coach and supervise payroll assistants and clerks
Develop systems to process payroll account transactions (e.g., salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes and third-party payments)
Supervise system upgrades and the processing of payroll changes (e.g., new hires, terminations, raises)
Collaborate with auditors and manage payroll tax audits
Manage timekeeping and payroll systems
Respond to all questions related to payroll and resolve issues
Requirements
MUST have California Payroll experience
Excellent leadership and organizational skills
CPP, CPM, or other related professional certifications is a plus
Comfortable with multiple payroll applications
2+ years of proven leadership experience as a payroll manager or similar role
5+ years of payroll experience
Knowledge in compliance
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field
Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
Knowledge of multi-location payroll and taxes
Capacity to apply discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information
Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws
