In NC, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains. Our newer Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) facility in Clayton, NC sits on 825,000 square-feet of state-of-the-art equipment, and houses the Fermentation, Recovery and Purification in the production of ingredients for Novo Nordisk’s innovative oral products. The Position
Provides over-all management & guidance to API M-US PMs & relevant project activities. Provides vision & direction, as developed by leadership, into actionable steps.

Essential Functions
Lead group of experienced PMs and professionals to execute API M-US project portfolio of investment projects in excess of $40M annually
Responsible for establishing and maintaining standards and systems to successfully execute capital investment projects within expected time, quality, cost, and in line with NN project execution model (PEM)
Trusted advisor to API M-US senior leadership on project strategy, execution, and delivery
Responsible for proper communication of status & escalation to management, PPM & other pertinent units as needed
Identify and mitigate risks to delivery of investment project portfolio
Responsible for development of team of PMs to ensure proper competencies in place to execute projects that directly support strategic goals for site
Identifies & develops working relationships with internal stakeholders and maintains external network of project execution professionals & companies (incl internal & external engineering, construction, and support functions)
Ensuring effective cost and time management for all capital projects
Development & oversight of site investment budget in excess of $40M to include funding recommendations to leadership
Contributes & collaborates across all boundaries to challenge project ideas, generate innovation, and optimize execution of projects
Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties

Physical Requirements
May move equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. May be required to be on your feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May required corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. May require the ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protections.
Development of People
Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.
Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.
Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a relevant field of study from an accredited university required
Master’s degree in Engineering or related field of study preferred
PMP certification preferred
Minimum of ten (10) years of project management experience in Manufacturing, Maintenance, Construction with a strong preference for pharmaceutical or other regulated industries required
Knowledgeable in the following systems: Process Equipment, Compressed Air/Steam, Chilled Water, Pharmaceutical Utilities preferred
Strong knowledge of existing Novo Nordisk project execution model preferred
Strong knowledge of project management planning, risk, and financial management tools preferred
Demonstrated experience as the driver for process improvement/design via LEAN, Six Sigma & Systematic Problem Solving (SPS) methodologies preferred
Proven expertise in mentoring/development, change management, planning/organizing, managing execution, & revising the work plan for complex problems solved by cross functional teams required
Strong collaborative & stakeholder management skills required
Proven project management experience with direct management of multiple projects simultaneously, both large & small capital investments required
