  Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Buckley Fitness Center. This position is considered Regular Full Time. The position is guaranteed 35 hours. As a regular employee, you are eligible for accrued leave and benefits, including Medical, Life Insurance, 401(K), and Retirement. The starting pay rate for this position is $17.88 per hour. Responsibilities Performs and/or assists other recreation assistants in the operation and maintenance of the Fitness and Sports programs. Types of duties include but are not limited to the following: Operating a front desk operation; ensures only authorized patrons use the facility and equipment; maintains reservation system for sports courts and fields; issues and receives equipment; maintains indoor facility; ensures check-out items are clean and in good repair; inventories, restocks and displays check-out items; provides equipment manager with a list of re-order needs. Operates point of sale system; performs receiving and disbursing cashier duties; accepts payments, check, makes change; may prepare and issues change funds, bank deposits and daily reports. Properly safeguards funds; ensures reserved areas are ready for use by customers; ensures lockers are clean and operable. Assists in setting up facilities, grounds and equipment for programs and special functions. Provides assistance to facilitate users by explaining functions and features available. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Experience in clerical or other office work of any kind which demonstrated the ability to perform the duties of the position. Practical knowledge of recreational activities, rules and procedures and equipment. Ability to resolve common math problems and make change when receiving payments from customers. Skill and use in maintenance of various recreational facilities and equipment desirable. Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing. Must be able to lift and carry items up to and including 50 pounds. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Nation Agency Check (NAC). Position is a Position of Trust. Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Direct deposit is required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. A probationary period may be required. Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD). Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
