WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Conservation Associate develops, manages and advances conservationprograms, plans and methods for small to medium scale geographic areas.The Conservation Associate, Saginaw Bay provides technical leadershipand support to a business unit and plans and directs preserve managementprograms and stewardship. The Conservation Associate addresses criticalthreats to natural systems and individual species, fosters cross-sitelearning among conservation community, and supplies conservationplanning teams with site or landscape level information relevant to theplanning process. The Conservation Associate develops and implementsconservation strategies and employs a full range of protection tools toacquire varying degrees of legal interest in land and implements avariety of strategies to secure public and private support for TNCconservation priorities. The Conservation Associate coordinatescommunity support, ensures the maintenance of preserve areas frequentedby the visiting public and coordinates multiple projects, sets deadlinesand manages completion. May work in variable weather conditions, atremote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain and underphysically demanding circumstances.

The Conservation Associate will support The Nature Conservancy\'sefforts to influence local supply chains and farmers to make stridestoward long term agricultural conservation adoption in Michigan. TheConservation Associate\'s programming areas have been strategicallydesigned as pathways for gaining progress toward The NatureConservancy\'s long-term conservation adoption goals. The Conservancywill rely on this person to demonstrate the effective and sustainablenature of supply chain-driven farmer incentive models, help facilitatestronger farmer peer networks throughout the watershed, and addtechnical capacity in agronomy, data analysis and modeling, agriculturalfinance mechanisms or policy to our team.The Conservancy has worked withagricultural partners in Michigan\'s Saginaw Bay Watershed for over tenyears to enhance on-farm conservation outcomes and improve waterquality. We do this by co-developing with partners and landowners on newconservation practices, conservation delivery mechanisms andconservation learning opportunities. The Conservation Associate, SaginawBay will advance TNC\'s agricultural supply chain work and our farmerengagement program. This position will: Serve as programmatic lead forexecuting supply chain farmer incentive programs through Michigan\'sdairy and grain industries. Provide technical assistance to farmers inSaginaw Bay Watershed as needed re: adoption of new conservationpractices. WHAT YOU\'LL BRING
Bachelor\'s degree and 3 years\' experience in natural resourcemanagement or similar field or equivalent combination of education andexperience. Experience managing staff or volunteers. Relationshipbuilding experience to work closely with a variety of partners, i.e.,media, government officials, internal scientists. Experience completingtasks independently with respect to timeline(s). Experience withcommunication via written, spoken and graphic
