About Bioinformatics/Immunology/Rheumatology Open Rank

The Divisions of Immunology and Rheumatology and the Stanford Center for Biomedical Informatics Research in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University are seeking to hire an informatician for an appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, with expertise in either translational research or clinical research. The successful candidate will have formal training in biomedical informatics (or a related discipline) and will develop new computational methods that can be applied to areas such as inflammatory disease, autoimmune disease, immunologic mechanisms of disease, “omics” research, clinical research, and pre-clinical models of disease. The candidate must hold an earned MD, MD/PhD, or PhD degree, and be qualified for appointment to a faculty position at Stanford University. The position will be in the University Tenure Line or University Medical Line, with the expectation that time will be split among research, mentoring/teaching activities, and (for those with the appropriate training) clinical service.

The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching. The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The appointment will be at Stanford University campus or at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Palo Alto.

The successful candidate will be expected to have outstanding research and teaching skills and, if applicable, clinical skills. The candidate will be required to contribute to our research programs, and either to have an established track record of funded research or to have demonstrated the ability or shown the potential to obtain peer-reviewed research funding.

The Medicine Department, School of Medicine, and Stanford University value faculty who will help foster an inclusive academic environment for colleagues, students, and staff with a wide range of backgrounds, identities, and outlooks. Candidates may choose to include as part of their research and teaching statements a brief discussion about how their work and experience will further these ideals. Additional information about Stanford's IDEAL initiative may be found here: https://ideal.stanford.edu/about (https://ideal.stanford.edu/about-ideal/diversity-statement) - ideal/diversity (https://ideal.stanford.edu/about-ideal/diversity-statement) - statement (https://ideal.stanford.edu/about-ideal/diversity-statement) .

Applications will be reviewed beginning April 1st, 2024 and accepted until position is filled. Interested candidates should submit their curriculum vitae, a brief letter outlining their interests and the names of three references to:
