Job Opportunity: Tax Accountant
Location: Ann Arbor, MI (US headquarters)
Overview: Our client is seeking a skilled Tax Accountant to join their team at our US headquarters in Ann Arbor, MI. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring compliance with governmental tax laws for our company and related entities in the Americas region. The position involves preparing tax information for financial reporting, with a predominant focus on indirect taxes. This is a hybrid position, with two days in the office, reporting directly to the Tax Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
Prepare state and local tax documents, including property tax returns, sales/use tax returns, and supporting schedules.
Collaborate with the tax supervisor, tax manager, and external accounting firm to prepare federal and state income tax returns.
Research federal, state, and local taxation issues to recommend effective tax strategies.
Maintain tax balance in the general ledger, including journal entries and reconciliations for selected accounts.
Assist in internal and external audits.
Identify opportunities for tax reduction and process/technology improvements.
Respond to notices and correspondence from tax authorities.
Maintain tax rates in computer systems.
Provide advice on tax issues to non-tax personnel as needed.
Estimated Time Allocation:
75%: Sales and use tax
10%: Property tax
10%: Income tax
5%: Other

Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or a related field.
an accounting internship or more is preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn.
Ability to travel within the US up to 10%.
Demonstrated interest in taxation preferred.
Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
Experience with tax research software and/or compliance software is a plus.
