The program will provide comprehensive training.NOTE: The position may be used to fulfill practicum hours if needed.Position Objective: To provide tobacco use prevention services to youth, families and community members across Eastern Kentucky.Position Description: Supervised by the Program Director, the Youth Prevention Specialist works in schools and communities to facilitate tobacco use prevention services based on the #iCANendthetrend framework, which include:1. Prevention Education2. Information Dissemination3. Youth Empowerment4. Professional DevelopmentPosition Responsibilities:• Collaborate with schools, parent-teacher groups, civic organizations, church groups, and other youth and community organizations to provide information and awareness on youth tobacco use, including e-cigarettes.• Implement peer-to-peer prevention program to provide information and awareness on youth tobacco use, including e-cigarettes.• Assist in providing orientation or information sessions for parents, teachers, staff or administrators in target area school and community sites when requested.• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director to meet program objectives.Skills / Knowledge / AbilitiesDoes this position have supervisory responsibilities? NoPreferred Education/Experience• Pre-employment criminal check, employment check, as required by school districts.• Evidence-based curriculum training must be obtained within 1 month of employment, and prior to in-school or related program delivery.
