Consultants please conduct a seated interview. Sheepherder Temp job10/01/2024 to 3/31/2025. Paul, Idaho Attend to live on the ranch attendssheep flock grazing on the range or pasture: moves sheep to and aboutarea assigned for grazing: prevents animals from becoming lost, usingtrained dogs to round up strays and assist in moving flock to otherlocations. Bed down sheep near campsite in corrals or pen each night.Guards flock against predators and prevents them from eating poisonousplants. Required to be available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week andspend the majority of workdays on the range. All job duties are closelyand directly related to the production of sheep. Perform any combinationof the following tasks to attend sheep on the range: feed and watersheep or ensure adequate provision of both; herd flock to appropriategrazing area; round up strays using dogs and/or fence; make certainanimals have access to fresh water; bed down flock near evening site;guard flock from predatory animals and from eating poisonous and/ornoxious plants; administer medication to sheep as needed; assist inlambing, docking and shearing; brand, tag, clip or otherwise mark sheepfor identification purposes; assist with sorting and cutting of cullsheep; feed supplemental rations to sheep; may build and/or maintainfence and livestock facilities to ensure the safety and health ofgrazing sheep and forage; may assist in the maintenance of tools,equipment and livestock handling facilities necessary to livestockproduction. Perform any combination of the following tasks to attendsheep on the ranch: feed and water sheep or ensure adequate provision ofboth; move sheep to appropriate pens; make certain animals have accessto fresh water; bed down flock at appropriate night site, guard flockfrom predatory animals and from eating poisonous and/or noxious plants;administer medication to sheep as needed; assist in lambing, docking andshearing; brand, tag, clip or otherwise mark sheep for identificationpurposes; assist with sorting and cutting of cull sheep; feedsupplemental rations to sheep; may build and/or maintain fence andlivestock facilities to ensure the safety and health of grazing sheepand forage; may assist in the maintenance of tools, equipment andlivestock handling facilities necessary to livestock production Mayattend sheep and lambs in barns during lambing season. May be requiredto ride and handle horses in a manner to assure the safety of theworker, co-workers, and livestock. Employee must be willing and able to:perform tasks capably and efficiently without close supervision, liveand work singly or in small groups of workers in isolated areas forextended periods of time and maintain and manage remote housinglocations in a safe and responsible manner. The job may entail workingwith and around farm machinery such as tractors for supplemental feedingpurposes and ATVs for movement of livestock, periodically. Employee willwork outdoors in all types of weather and may experience occasionalexposure to herding hazards such as poisonous snakes and predators. 50lb lifting and driving requirement is needed.
