Reporting to the Sr Vice President of Operations, the Vice President, Procurement & Planning will be a key member of our executive team and be responsible for developing and executing the finished goods make versus buy strategy and raw material sourcing strategy to establish supply chain stability, reduce lead times, and achieve cost of goods improvements. The primary objective will be to minimize the organization's overall costs by leading the development and continuous improvement of sourcing and purchasing strategies.
Responsibilities :
Develop a multi-year strategy around optimizing the supplier base
Ensure purchasing actions are jointly developed, fully communicated, and correctly integrated into strategic plans and budgets of the organization
Assess current material availability; reasonably predict future availability based on the market, delivery systems, and other variables
Prepares and presents market conditions and raw material cost reports
Manage and support corporate oversight for purchases, across multiple expense categories and create strategic vision for the company as well as driving purchasing synergies to achieve cost savings
Oversee the timely and accurate preparation and processing of purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment
Originate, approve, and implement comprehensive instructions, policies, and procedures governing procurement and contract management activities
Originate, lead negotiation efforts, and govern purchase agreements and vendor contracts with a bias for the achievement of quality, delivery, cost containment, and process improvement
Identifies and capitalizes on opportunities to reduce purchasing costs
Assess and approve terms and conditions for bid issuance and awarding, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and industry best practices
Develop and monitor metrics, processes, and procedures to measure vendor performance delivery, service, quality, and pricing
Resolves grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers
Implements and ensures purchasing and recordkeeping systems are maintained
Coordinates removal or disposal of surplus materials
Develop and maintain an annual department operating budget that is represented in forecasted vs actuals and aligned to the business
Basic Hiring Criteria :
Bachelor's Degree in supply chain management, economics, finance, operations, business, accounting, or manufacturing-related field or equivalent experience preferred
Minimum of 15 years of experience progressive experience in Sourcing and Procurement, Purchasing, and Supply Inventory planning with a proven ability to lead change
Desired Qualifications :
MBA and APICS certifications are a plus
Ability to report on key purchasing metrics with clarity, good visualization, and savvy to present to senior executives
Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine needs
May require travel approximately 10% to conferences and to visit suppliers/vendors
Proven ability to lead a team to success while demonstrating strong, influential leadership
