Job Description
LanzaJet is looking for a motivated, high-energy, well-organized, collaborative Project Controls Specialist to join our Project Team. This person will need to possess the ability to set priorities and maintain a current overall project forecast to completion. The position is for the corporate office located outside Chicago in Deerfield, Illinois.
Responsibilities
Maintains a current overall project forecast to completion, including owner’s costs and contractor’s costs against project budget
Issues purchase requisitions and works closely with procurement to ensure project purchases align with budgets and forecasts
Tracks and analyzes the project costs including budgets, commitments, actuals, accruals and forecasts
Performs cost analysis and spend tracking with the project schedule to monitor project costs and revenue and forecast final financial outcomes
Assists in or performs generation of project budget and monthly forecasting within company-supported cost control software, NetSuite
Uses company-determined process and practices to document, track and report cost, earned value, progress, and project dashboards, in adherence to the WBS structure on assigned projects
Works with project management team and project controls team to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information.
Supports integration of company systems to track, monitor and control costs; monitors the job cost report against key performance indicators (KPIs).
Assists project close out procedures by validating final revenue prior to final bill submission
Supports financial audit process on assigned projects
Generates, analyzes and submits monthly reporting as required by project team and finance
Predicts and mitigates potential cost impacts to the project by managing, monitoring, trending and reporting changes in accordance with the project change management process
Monitors and reports the actual costs compared to budget, included detailed variance analysis
Receives commitment and spend information from NetSuite, contractors, and finance, and collates data into financial reports
Identifies and implements improvement initiatives, including opportunities for increased capital efficiency and productivity
Maintains knowledge of company’s values and strategic plan
Maintains high standards of professional and ethical conduct
Effectively communicates with other departments and leadership
Performs additional assignments per management’s direction
Requirements
3+ years experience in construction industry, cost tracking, or engineering preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Ability to forecast cost independently by analyzing actual cost and projecting accurately
Ability to analyze data in order to identify risk and opportunity, and trends or areas of concerns
General construction finance knowledge, with ability to understand project level reporting
Ability to support accounts receivable and payable and other accounting functions
Strong attention to detail
Previous cost engineering applications experience such as NetSuite, Ecosys and SAP
Capital project experience/EPCM experience
Proven track record of developing and maintaining a safe work culture
Ability to work under pressure, maintain composure, set priorities and work with a project team
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business/Finance, Accounting, Construction, or related field required.
