Within the Office of Information Technology (OIT), we currently seek a Voice Engineer to support the conversion of a traditional PBX to a VOIP solution, as well as operational duties. The individual in this role serves as a technical expert in all manner of voice technologies, providing technical support for advanced troubleshooting, request fulfillment, solution implementation, and alignment with architecture standards. The engineer works closely with the voice architect, product owner, internal stakeholders, and University Information Security (UIS) to fulfill short and long-term priorities for voice services. Job Responsibilities: Collaborate with the service owner and product owner to strategize and implement the seamless transition of services from TDM to VOIP Provide robust support to service owners and product managers during the transition and ongoing operation of the voice service offering, encompassing switches, handsets, soft-clients, voicemail, and contact centers Formulate comprehensive procedures and documentation pertinent to the transition and ongoing operation of voice services Contribute to the establishment of standards for voice services and ensure adherence Engage with telecom vendors to meticulously plan, execute, and troubleshoot voice services Take the lead in troubleshooting and service restoration efforts within the incident and major incident management processes, acting as an escalation point for intricate problems Collaborate with the voice architect and vendors to strategically plan for the life cycle management of the voice platform, covering enhancements, upgrades, and integrations Compensation: $115,000 - $125,000 (depending on experience) Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree with at least four years or two years of experience, respectively Hands-on experience with legacy TDM to voice over IP migrations Familiarity with SIP technology Expertise in managing complex call routing and contact centers In-depth knowledge of telecom infrastructure, including ISDN, T1, and session border controllers Understanding of the environment and able to work within the university architecture Previous networking experience is a must Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in Python/SQL scripting Experience with Cisco routing and switching Familiarity with one or more cloud-based PBX solutions Benefits Working at the University At the University of Minnesota, you'll find a flexible work environment and supportive colleagues who are interested in lifelong learning.
